Performance Opportunities
Each year students ages 3 through adults have the opportunity to perform in our Annual Recital at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre in Orlando. The 2000 seat theatre is the home to many top performers and the Orlando Broadway series. The rehearsal and recital always run on time moving from number to number with only a few seconds between. Dismissal is in an orderly fashion taking no more than 15 minutes. Organization of the show is top priority at Leggz. Also, all performing students receive a FREE DVD of the show.
Here’s what former “News/Gazette” reporter Pat Carter has said about our recitals:
1990 Recital “...the epitome of professionalism.”
1991 Recital “It was awesome!”
1992 Recital “...once again, she (Lisa Marie Drawneek), has risen to the heights of excellence and creativity.”
Current “News/Gazette” reporter Lisa D’Cato recently said:
2002 Recital “The students of Leggz hit the big time...” “They were quite the professionals”
2003 Recital “The quality of the performances has always been exemplary.”
In addition to our annual recital, we have given numerous performances at the German/American Oktoberfest, KVLS fair, Carnival Cruise Lines, and many schools, churches and nursing homes. And since 1995, Leggz has performed yearly in both the Kissimmee and St Cloud Christmas Parades, winning several trophies.
WHY DON’T WE DO COMPETITIONS?
We feel that the only competition a child should have is within themselves. All of the students encourage each other and cheer when someone accomplishes their goal. We do not have a dance company, but rather, we choose different dances from our previous recital to perform at local venues. This gives ALL children the opportunity to perform and not just the best students. Leggz does not discriminate against any student regardless of their physical limitations.
STANDARDIZED CURRICULUM
Leggz Dance Academy is the only school in Central Florida to be registered with England’s Royal Academy of Dance. We follow their dress code and syllabus, and once a year, an examiner flies in to test the ballet students. The RAD is the world’s leading organization in classical ballet teaching, having approximately 13,000 members in 79 countries.
All of our classes have a set curriculum. This creates consistency among all teachers at the studio. Classes are not only age appropriate, but are also geared to the individual student’s ability. Students are always encouraged to do their best, but are not taught steps that are beyond their ability level, which could potentially cause injury. |
